High Holy Day Sermons
Rabbi Edward Paul Cohn announced his theme for this year's High Holy Day Sermons: "Living the Prophetable Life."
"The Prophets were articulate religious geniuses and, of course, each one had a powerful message to share. Each on made unforgettable observations which have now become famous statements of the essence of religious faith and human duty," said Rabbi Cohn.
"I hope that something of the Prophets' courage and moral grit will become a part of our own mentality. It is my hope that the tough choices the great figures made will help to inform our own consciences in times of ethical or moral searching. I intend to focus on the spiritual and personal messages of these amazing and fascinating religious voices - how they spoke truth to power, but also comforted the afflicted of their times. The Prophets have so much insightful wisdom and strength to offer each one of us for the living of our Jewish lives.
By the end of Yom Kippur Day, I hope that fact will be made clear."
